Priorities, Ordered
Ok, so I’ve been looking through my bible to get a good understanding of what my priorities should be, and giving thought to the current needs of my family and myself in this modern world.
Clearly, as a Christian, my first priority is God.
I think my second priority is definitely my family. I am a wife and a mother who still has children at home (and who still need my attention).
In order to be able to address these first priorities, I need to keep myself healthy. A sickly, tired me cannot function and give 100%, when it’s needed. (Should this come first?)
After that, I think, should come my wants.
It’s funny, when I listed what is important to me in my previous post, they came out in just this order! Coincidence? I think not.
From here, I think I will break down my priorities individually. Within each priority, are its own priorities. (I’m sorry, I have such a logically geared mind and details are important. I hope I don’t bore you with all the details.)
How do I organize my thoughts on this? I think I will define WHY the priority is a priority first. From there, I will need to identify what is important within each one. For example, in family, taking care of my children’s NEEDs (notice I didn’t say “wants.”) is important…so what, exactly, are those needs? See where I’m going with this? I tend to want to do too much, so the really important things don’t get taken care of. Is keeping my house clean really more important than just spending time with my kids?
So my next post will be about God as my first priority.
See you then!
