My post today is a mis-mash of items, so I wasn't really sure what I wanted to entitle it. Miscellaneous seemed like a great idea, so off I went to look for the definition. My internet source for many interesting tidbits of information is http://www.refdesk.com/ and this is where I found the definition of miscellaneous. It seems to fit for today, so here we go!
We went to the American Folk Festival this past weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed it while we were there, but I forgot my camera and so I have no pictures for you. So sorry. But the music was great! I also got a chance to have my favorite meal at the Festival...Cajun Red Beans & Rice. So yummy!!! I love the diversity of music and food at this Festival.
What I didn't enjoy was suffering with allergies that made it hard to stay there. I didn't get to hear all the groups that I wanted to, because I was too busy sneezing, dealing with watery eyes and just plan tiredness. I don't know what's out there right now, but I haven't been bothered with allergies this badly since I quit smoking. :::sigh:::
There is lots going on this week.
School starts tomorrow. I have two more children still yet to graduate; although one is heading into her senior year. Such a bitter-sweet time. You are so proud of their accomplishments, but it means they are that much closer to leaving the nest. Thankfully, I have 5 more years before the last one graduates.
We are also getting ready to head out for our last camping trip of the year. A nice, long 3-day weekend is ahead of us. We've had a wonderful summer for camping, we didn't get rained on once. BUT, this is Labor Day weekend and we have a history of getting rained on during Labor Day weekend. Without fail, we always have to pack up in the rain. Last year, we chose not to camp on Labor Day and it didn't rain. What are the chances, huh? Yep, this weekend we have a major storm system coming through...gotta love hurricane season. We'll be camping in the rain. Looks like we'll need the little TV and DVD player, and a stop at Redbox.
I also have to plan a menu for the weekend that will allow me to cook (or not cook) in the rain. I welcome any and all suggestions!
All of this is happening while I am in the middle of making a life changing decision. It's a decision that has been a long time coming, but is not an easy one to make. It requires a lot of heart to hearts with my Father (how I so wish my earthly father was here to talk to). It's a decision I have been contemplating for a very long time, but I have been too afraid to finalize. And I so need God to be in the middle of it.
It's a scary thing to make a huge, life-changing decision that will not only affect you, but those around you. It takes a great amount of trust to see it through, and that's not something I've had much of in my life. Oh, how I wish I could just ask others to make this decision for me, that there would be someone else in my life that would just fix everything and make things all better...but there is no one, and truly, there has never been.
All I have is myself...and my God.
Would you pray for me? Pray that I keep my eyes and ears on Him? That if He askes me to step out in faith, that I will do it? And that when & if I do it, that I never look back?
Thank you so much.
Have a very blessed week everyone.
